The Rugby Ball how it was madePosted: November 24, 2015
Another perhaps more familiar project seen in recent weeks in Cardiff imbedded on the side of Cardiff Castle. Contracted by the the local Cardiff Council Wild Creations was tasked with making the ball and creating the effect of the wall being damaged by the presence of the ball as you can see.
Much like the Mosasaurus the ball was sculpted to shape and a cast was made as an important factor of especially the arts area accidents happen and on a timescale can be a tricky situation. The ball is made from four separate pieces from the hollow cast which is held together in place and together by a metal welded chassis. The bricks you see around the ball are all made from polystyrene and have been carved to shape and sprayed with several layers of paint to give the effect shown.
